03 — About Lizzie

Rooted in close looking, shaped by memory

Lizzie studied Fine Art at Plymouth University and now works from her Somerset studio, surrounded by the shifting skies, bustling hedgerows and seasonal rhythms of rural Somerset, where she finds inspiration in the beauty of the everyday.

Working primarily in oils, she creates intimate still lifes and expressive portraits that celebrate the quiet poetry of domestic life. She has exhibited with the Royal Society of British Painters. More recently her practice has grown to include vibrant mixed media and printmaking — a more playful, spontaneous response to colour, texture and form.

A passionate gardener and cook, she often paints the things she grows, gathers or shares with others. When she's not painting you'll find her cooking for friends, writing, or walking the Somerset lanes with a notebook in her pocket.

    Somerset Art Weeks

    Venue 88, Huntstile Farm, Goathurst. Five artists, over a hundred pieces of work — paintings, pottery, enamel jewellery — and cake. Plus a portrait wall where visitors drew their own faces.

    Summer Exhibition

    A group show at the wonderful Bridgwater Arts Centre, months in the planning.

    The Chandos Society of Art — 65 years

    A night to celebrate sixty-five years of the society, with work on the walls.
